Students prepared in early childhood degree programs identify and conduct themselves as members of the early childhood profession. They know and use ethical guidelines and other professional standards related to early childhood practice. They are continuous, collaborative learners who demonstrate knowledgeable, reflective, and critical perspectives on their work, making informed decisions that integrate knowledge from a variety of sources. They are informed advocates for sound educational practices and policies.

Standard 6 focuses on being a professional and continuously growing in the field of early childhood education. I believe that ongoing professional development is essential to providing high-quality care and education for young children. As an educator, I have a responsibility to stay informed about current research, best practices, and effective teaching strategies.

I actively participate in professional development trainings to strengthen my understanding of child development, improve my instructional practices, and better support the needs of the children and families I work with. These learning opportunities allow me to reflect on my practice and make intentional changes in my classroom to improve outcomes for children.

I also view professional growth as an ongoing process rather than a destination. Each training I complete helps me become more confident, knowledgeable, and effective as an educator. This commitment to learning supports my ability to provide a high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Overall, Standard 6 is reflected in my practice through my dedication to continuous learning and my commitment to growing as a reflective and professional early childhood educator.
